Announcements for August 21st
ALPHA starts on September 21 & 22:
This is a great opportunity for you to invite your friends to come and investigate the meaning of life from a Christian perspective in a fun and relaxed way. The course lasts nine weeks and covers topics like- Who is Jesus? Why did He die? How does God Guide me? How do I pray? The talks will be given live by Lon Allison, Director of the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College and Allison Borton, a young dynamic woman who was previously on staff in WBC’s Student Body. After the talks there is open discussion around tables.
There are two options- Alpha for women on Wednesday mornings 9:30-11:30am or Alpha for everyone Thursday nights at 6:30-8:30pm. Both courses are free, although participants may wish to give a donation for the food. Pick up invitation cards and brochures at the Welcome Desk. Contact Lynne Morris at lmorris@wheatonbible.org .

Our next baptism service will be held on Saturday evening, September 10, at 6pm. This will be an all-church celebration similar to the one we had in April. This is a great opportunity to publicly proclaim your faith in Christ. Have you been baptized? Sign up today for Baptism classes – Wednesday 8/24, 7-8 pm, room 206 AND Wednesday 8/31, 7-8 pm, room 206. Attendance at both sessions is required for all participants. Baby News: The Brust Family
More babies! The Brust family announced the arrival of their baby Jonathan David on August 12th. Jonathan (or baby Jay) weighed in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces and joined big sisters Calla and Kelsey.

Upcoming Covenant Events
Social at the Smrha’s on 8/27 (please note this change-of-date):
The Smrhas have been gracious enough (or crazy enough!) to invite us all to hang at their place Saturday, August 27th from 4-7pm. It’ll be a great time to gather outside of class. The Smrhas recently set a world record for ownership of the most kids electric ride-on toys! There will not be a lack of things to do. More details to come…
Theology 101 with Dr. Moo (8/21 & 8/28):
Dr. Douglas Moo, The Kenneth T. Wessner Professor of New Testament at Wheaton College, and more affectionately known as Luke Moo’s dad, will be joining us for two weeks. During his first week, Dr. Moo will handle the latest of Christian controversial subjects--Hell . Week 2 will give us the opportunity for Q&A regarding Bible and Theology.

In addition to those, Brian reminded our class that the Covenant Men's Group, led by Mel, starts back up again this Wednesday, August 10th 6:15am. Men are welcome to join the group for a time of scripture memorization, accountability, and Bible study. Mel will start off the first two weeks going through www.123leadertraining.com, our church's new leadership training. Please come having finished the first 6 lessons. We meet at 2150 Manchester Road in Wheaton (two story office building).
