Email update from the Pehrson Family

Dear Praying Friends and Family,
It has already been a few weeks since we came back from the village, and life has been very busy! Thank you for praying for us during this crucial time--the Lord helped all of us despite some illness. Ben, John, Beth and Dave consultant checked Luke in five languages and Acts in three. A lot of people have asked me (Mandy) how we survived with homeschooling, cooking and daily living in the village with five children (includingtwo babies!), but I know that God intervened on our behalf, especially for me, who often finds it hard to handle the isolation and daily chores out there. We were busy every day with little time to rest... but it was hugely satisfying to know that we were finally in one of the final steps before people in these language groups would have these portions of God's Word in printed form. I've just written a blog post on a typical day in my life in the village... if you'd like to see it, I've posted it here:http://livingletters.wordpress.com/2010/11/23/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-translators-wife/.

Here are a few prayer points for us and for our project:
1)Ben has a lot on his plate right now. In addition to making final changes to Luke, he's advisor checking Acts and preparing to take a typesetting course in January. Please pray for strength and clear thinking while he focuses on these tasks. He is also preaching next Sunday.
2)While we were in the village, there were some security incidents on center. The police have apprehended some of the criminals who have been causing trouble for months. We are thankful to the Lord that there have been no major events since the beginning of this month!
3)Beth Fuller returned to the US for the funeral of her grandma. She went home to be with her recently widowed mother, who was her grandma's primary caregiver. Please pray for them as they are still grieving the loss of Beth's father and now adding the loss of her grandmother, too.
4)Our teammate John Nystrom has a viral fatigue illness. Please pray that the Lord will heal him and give him strength as he writes a book about our project! You can see articles John wrote. Here's what he said in his latest update:
"You're kidding! You haven't read my articles in the Jaars Rev7 magazine yet? They're still there at www.jaars.org/rev7.
Don't miss the videos here: http://www.jaars.org/multimedia/publications/rev7/archive/tsunami/extras."
5)We have asked for prayer before for Joel, an Onnele translator. He is still struggling with an unknown illness. After checking Luke we urged him to go to the haus sik (hospital) and see a doctor. Please pray for Joel to get better.
6)Plans are in place to put up a VSAT (satellite connection) because the radio e-mail system is not adequate to send the large files. Please pray that the equipment will arrive in a timely manner and that it will work well.
7)We have a potential translation advisor looking at our project. Her name is Jessie. She plans to come to the translation workshop in February. Please pray that God will make it clear if she should join our project.
8)Ben is coordinating the installation of a new septic tank for our translators. The February translation workshop cannot happen without it.

Love,
Mandy

Phones donated will be taken to Costa Rica where they will either be put to use by Casa Viva or will be liquidated to support the ministry.
